A step-by-step guide

Getting Started
1
Click Open PDF
Choose any PDF of sheet music from your computer.

Review the score
The PDF opens so you can look it over before entering details.

Enter piece details
Fill in tempo, time signature, and key in the dialog.

Click Continue
The score is ready for marking.
Placing Measure Numbers

Click at the start of each measure
Numbers are placed in sequence automatically. Click left to right, page by page.

Shift+click for a rehearsal mark
The number gets a box. Dorico will add a double barline and rehearsal mark.

Ctrl+Z to undo
Removes the last number placed.
Tempo, Key, or Time Signature Changes

Click Change Settings
Use any time the piece changes key, tempo, or time signature.

Fill in what changed, leave the rest
Only the fields you change will be updated. Click Apply.

Place the next measure number normally
The change takes effect from that measure onward.
Saving and Exporting

Save your project (Ctrl+S)
Saves a .mpsa file you can reopen later.

Export XML
Opens in Dorico with correct tempo, key, time signature, measures, and rehearsal marks.

Export Annotated PDF (optional)
Creates a copy of your PDF with measure numbers printed on it.
